Sugar Bean Sisters

By Nathan Sanders

July 12 – 27

Directed by Robert Zelenka

Stuck in a Florida swamp near Disney World, the Nettles sisters sit eating sandwiches. They are determined to escape spinsterhood by hopping the next spaceship out of town, and they're not going to let the arrival of a snake charmer and a mysterious bird woman stand in their way. This is the night they will make contact! In a wonderfully weird and wacky world that combines Tennessee Williams with Close Encounters of the Third KindThe Sugar Bean Sisters is an offbeat story of romance, murder and alien abduction.

Sponsored by David McChesney

Becky last appeared on this stage as Mrs. Claus and has performed in several local productions including: Les Miserables, Amahl and The Night Visitors, Sweeny Todd, All My Sons, The Mikado, The Hallelujah Girls, Youth In Revolt, and Pirates of Penzance. Thanks to DW for his patient support and to KK for her “Loosiana” inspiration.

Lynn Stevenson,
Willie Mae Nettles

Lynn is excited to be playing another spicy character at the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center! Her first role was as the diva Kate in God I Hate Actors, part of the 2025 One Act Play Festival. Also a member of Healdsburg’s Raven Players, Lynn was Mrs. Gottlieb in Dead Man’s Cell Phone, Sue in Betty and Edith and Sue, and has performed in Raven 24/7: Theatre Without a Safety since 2022. Lynn began acting as a child with the Marin Junior Theatre, and continued at Tamalpais High School and the University of California, Los Angeles. She juggled her passion for acting and directing with work on studio television and film productions, and wrote and performed sketch comedy with LA Connection Comedy Theater in Hollywood. Favorite roles include Nora in A Doll’s House, Prudence in Beyond Therapy, Weird Sister #1 in Macbeth, Mary in Mary Magdalene, Estelle in No Exit, and Mary in The Vampire Masquerade. Additionally, she wrote and performed My Real Mother as part of Theatre Neo’s Mom Project. Lynn hopes you will avoid any mishaps as we drag you into the swamp with us.

Morgan Hamilton-Lee,
The Bishop Crumley

Morgan is very excited to return to Cloverdale after playing Don Baker in Butterflies are Free in 2023. He has been acting his whole life, but mostly focuses on filmmaking. He received his certificate in Digital Filmmaking from the Santa Rosa Junior College in 2021. He owns his own Production Company in Santa Rosa, Tricky Ink Productions, and has been referred to as the connective tissue of filmmakers in Sonoma County. He wants to act more, and he is always looking to meet other creatives in the Bay Area.

Emily Stryker,
The Reptile Woman

Emily Stryker (Reptile Woman) genuinely loves snakes but has never met a gator. She has participated in theater at CPAC (and around the county) for more than a decade in many ways, most recently directing a one act play in April. Emily lives in Cloverdale with her husband Dan and child Felix, both of whom are also frequent participants in local theater.

Robert Zelenka,

Robert Zelenka has been a part of the Bay Area theater scene for over 35 years, contributing to more than sixty productions throughout San Francisco, Marin, and Sonoma counties. His talents span a wide range of theatrical roles, including director, actor, costume designer, and stage manager.

Lenore Messler,
Stage Manager/Props

Born and raised in Florida, Lenore is excited to get back to her “Florida Woman” roots with The Sugar Bean Sisters. Joining as a volunteer in 2022, she most recently stage managed Misery (2024) and is a member of CPAC’s Board of Directors. When she’s not at the theater, Lenore can be found learning a new creative hobby or hanging out with her partner, Sean, and their cat, Squishy.

Leah Berlin, Assistant Stage Manager/Props

Leah is thrilled to be backstage for another show at Cloverdale Performing Arts! She was last seen on stage during CPAC’s One Act Play Festival and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. She worked backstage on Misery and 1984. She can’t wait for more!
