The Jekyll & Hyde Project

The Cloverdale Performing Arts Center presents their annual Halloween Fundraiser! Get your creative caps on and join the fun by signing up to be part of The Jekyll & Hyde Project! Choose something that inspires you from Robert Louis Stevenson’s "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde" and create something to share...a window display, costume design, reading, work of art, floral arrangement...anything goes! All projects will be shared via social media and those that can will be displayed at the theatre! Each project will be voted on by the public leading up to Halloween and the winner will be announced at the final performance of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde: Sunday October 29th at 2pm!

The Details:

This is a friendly competition to raise funds, celebrate Halloween, and creatively challenge the community. Anyone and everyone are welcome and encouraged to participate.

 

Each participant can select something that inspires them from The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson off of Project Gutenberg, from which they can create anything they’d like. 

 

Examples include, but are not limited to: recreating a scene, performing a monologue, doing a reading, designing a set, creating a costume, a make-up design, creating a piece of art, writing an original work inspired by the chapter, performing an interpretive dance, designing a store-fron,t etc. 

 

Each creation should be documented by video and submitted to CPAC no later than Wednesday, October 11th. Each submission will be shared to the CPAC audiences October 15th-28th.  Votes will be tallied and winners announced on the 29th at the final performance of TSCODJ&MH.

 

All submissions will be shared via social media, and the audience will “vote” on their favorite piece by making a donation to CPAC. The piece with the highest donation total will win bragging rights and a goody basket from local artisans and business.

 

How to Participate:

  • Email Amy@cloverdaleperformingarts.com to sign up

  • Read the story and decide what you will create

  • Spend August 1st-October 11th creating your project; documenting it along the way

  • Digital recording due via google drive, email, or dropbox by Oct 11th

  • Those that can be displayed, should be dropped off October 18th to the theatre for display.

  • Share the link to your entry video with your family and friends!

  • October 15th-28th encourage friends and family to “vote”

  • Donation/votes will be tallied October 28th.

  • Winners to be  announced on October 29th at the Final Performance of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde

 

Guidelines:

 

  • Video Submission: Each participant must state their name and entry number, with an explanation of their interpretation as an intro to their submission, and if the piece is a work of art, should include photos of the process. 

  • Physical submissions will be delivered to the theatre by October 15th, for display in the lobby and will be picked up on October 29th or at a scheduled time.

 

  • Examples: a full video of your scene/monologue, time lapse of your work with the final product at the end, photo journal of the creation process, ending with the final product.

 

  • All entries must be original, and created by the entrant 

 

  • If using any music or work that is not your own in your submission, please be sure to use those from the public domain or royalty free.

 

  • If a submission has cursing, could be a trigger or is gory, a warning should be expressed at the beginning of the video, so viewers can opt out of viewing with enough time. ABSOLUTELY NO NUDITY IS ALLOWED.

 

  • By submitting your video/Art, you are giving CPAC the permission to share your work via their online platforms.
